The Church's Care for the Word
What does it truly mean to value the Word of God? That question sits at the heart of this powerful exploration of 1 Timothy 5:17-25, and the answer might challenge us more than we expect. We live in a world full of noise, entertainment, and endless distraction, and it is easy for even the most sincere believer to drift from a deep hunger for Scripture into a passive consumer mindset when it comes to church. This message calls us back to something foundational: the church is not built on the creativity of its leaders or the quality of its programs, but on the transforming power of God's Word faithfully proclaimed. Paul's letter to Timothy reveals that the early church faced real and serious leadership failures, yet the answer was never to abandon the ministry of the Word. Instead, it was to protect it, honor it, and guard it with integrity. We are reminded that faith comes by hearing, and hearing through the Word of Christ. Every life transformed, every heart renewed, every sinner brought from darkness into light, happens through the faithful proclamation of Scripture. As we reflect on that truth, we are invited to ask ourselves honestly: do we come to worship hungry for the Word, or simply hoping to feel good? The answer to that question shapes everything about the kind of church we are becoming.
